The Academic Senate of the University of California passed an OPEN ACCESS POLICY in July 2013, ensuring that FUTURE RESEARCH ARTICLES authored by faculty at all 10 UC campuses will be made PUBLICLY AVAILABLE at no charge. This means that you can now SHARE your work broadly and easily with anyone in THE WORLD. And that means: greater RECOGNITION of your RESEARCH more thorough ENGAGEMENT with your IDEAS AND an INCREASE in scientific, scholarly and critical KNOWLEDGE in our world. So what do you need to do?

Faculty at UCSF, UC Irvine, or UCLA should deposit all articles published after July 24, 2013, in ESCHOLARSHIP, UC’s open access repository. Faculty on other campuses may also deposit but are not required to until next fall.

Deposit is simple. Select your CAMPUS. Enter a few identifying details for your material, such as TITLE, AUTHOR NAME(S), and DISCIPLINE, and UPLOAD a copy of your article. If your article is ALREADY OPENLY AVAILABLE just let us know where. And if your publisher requires a WAIVER, we can help with that.

Finally, stay tuned for a new HARVESTING TOOL that will make your participation in this policy EVEN EASIER!
